January 4: Visitation Update

Due to recent positive cases of COVID-19 in Lakewood’s healthcare center, a number of anticipated reopening guidelines have been changed. The decision was made based on guidance from the Virginia Department of Health and our in-house infection preventionist, due to the community’s internal positivity rate.

Assisted Living Visitation

  • All visitation is temporarily suspended.
  • Compassionate care end-of-life visits may resume on a case-by-case basis, but only by appointment and with approval from management.

Memory Support Visitation

  • All visitation is temporarily suspended.
  • Compassionate care end-of-life visits may resume on a case-by-case basis, but only by appointment and with approval from management.

Resident Services in Assisted Living and Memory Support

  • Residents may continue to enjoy all meals in dining rooms and other communal spaces. All social distancing guidelines will be maintained ensuring six feet of separation between residents during meals.
  • Exercise classes for groups of 10 or fewer will continue. Residents will be spaced a minimum of 10 feet apart during classes.
  • Purposeful walking within the building has been temporarily suspended. Residents may walk in their neighborhood unit and in the memory garden if they live in the Health Services Building.
  • The Shear Style Salon will continue with its reopening, by appointment only, to assisted living residents on January 13. Team members will escort residents to and from the salon to ensure appropriate precautions are being practiced to reduce/control exposure.

These issues affecting the assisted living and memory support neighborhoods will be re-visited 10 days from the date of this notice.
