January 21: COVID-19 Update

The Lakewood leadership team learned on January 20 and 21 that two healthcare residents tested positive for COVID-19. The positive cases were identified during state-mandated twice-weekly baseline testing. Both residents are in isolation currently.

Contact tracing is underway. Any residents or team members identified as having close contact with the positive resident will be contacted directly. The Virginia Department of Health has been notified of this positive case and is providing additional recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus.

Team members were tested again on January 20 as part of the ongoing baseline testing. Residents will be tested again on January 25. The leadership team will report any positive tests as results are returned. The ongoing testing is due to the positivity rate in Henrico County which remains in the red zone.

Lakewood’s second vaccination clinic will be held on February 4. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, immunity with the vaccine is not achieved until seven to 14 days after the second dose. Please continue to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene.
