What Your Dog Will Love About Living at Lakewood

Life is better with friends, and the same goes for furry friends! With warm cuddles, tail wagging and unconditional love, animal companions enrich our lives in more ways than we could ever imagine. Dogs help their humans stay healthy by encouraging walking, staying social and providing companionship.

At Lakewood, we know how important four-legged friends are in our residents’ lives, and we can’t wait to show you all the perks of our pet-friendly senior living community. If you’re in search of the perfect retirement spot for yourself and your pet, you’re in the right place. Our dog-friendly campus has loads of amenities you’ll enjoy together, plus the freedom and peace of mind that comes with independent living.

A Day in the Life of a Dog at Lakewood

There’s so much to do and see here, your dog will love it! Let’s explore Lakewood through the eyes (and ears and nose) of a dog:

  • Rise and shine! Time to start the day with some big stretches and maybe fetching some toys in the living room or listening to birds chirping and leaves rustling from the patio, balcony or porch.
  • Go for a walk. Walking is always an adventure when there’s so much to explore. Shaded walking paths wind around campus and through 128 beautiful acres. The paths are paved with a high-tech synthetic surface that drains quickly and lessens stress on the ankles, knees, feet (and paws). Let’s grab the leash and go!
  • Stop to smell the flowers. Lakewood’s community gardens are the perfect place to stop for a rest in the shade. There are so many wonderful smells to enjoy, from fresh-cut grass to fresh flowers blooming in the garden.
  • Time for a nap. When it’s time for humans to have lunch, the terrace provides a breezy venue for lunch and a prime napping spot for tired-out pups. Lakewood’s terrace flows gracefully along three sides of Lakewood Clubhouse, offering beautiful views of the lake and the woods beyond.
  • Meet up with friends. Have you ever noticed that dogs have a way of encouraging social interaction and helping you meet new people? It’s easy to meet other dog owners and set up playdates with their four-legged friends at Lakewood.
  • Relax at home. With an array of spacious floor plans to choose from, including apartments, villas, cottages and hybrid homes, it’s easy to find one that feels like home with plenty of space for a pup.
  • Settle in for the evening. Lap dogs love to spend an evening watching movies with a bowl of popcorn and their favorite human. Find your favorite blanket and get ready for some cuddles!
