Healthcare Visitation to Resume on March 1

Healthcare Visitation Will Resume at Lakewood Senior Living in Richmond, VA.

The Lakewood leadership team is pleased to report that healthcare residents will now be able to welcome visitors, effective Monday, March 1. This exciting news comes as the COVID-19 positivity rate for Henrico County dropped below 10% this week and baseline testing resulted in all negative tests for the past two weeks. These two standards are set by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to determine when visitation may be allowed.

Please note, residents currently on 14-day isolation protocols—new hospital admissions or re-admissions, anyone returning from physician appointments and those who have suspected or confirmed COVID-19 exposure—will be unable to have visitors during the isolation period.

Lakewood will follow all VDH guidelines for these visits, which include:

  • No new-onset COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days in the community.
  • Visits will be limited to one visitor at a time.
  • Visits will be limited to a maximum of one hour.
  • The total number of visitors in the community at one time may be limited by Lakewood.
  • Visitor movement in the community will be limited. Visitors will be required to go directly to the resident’s room or apartment to conduct the visit. Movement throughout the community and use of common areas will be restricted at this time. Visitors will be unable to participate in communal dining and activities with loved ones.
  • Visitors will need to immediately exit the community once visitation is complete.
  • Visitors must be screened before entering the community. The screening will include a questionnaire, temperature check and visitors must sign-in at the guardhouse to be granted entry.

All visitors will be expected to adhere to infection control protocol:

  • Face masks must always be worn by both the visitor and resident.
  • Maintain a social distance of at least six feet.
  • Practice good hand hygiene with the use of hand sanitizer prior to entering the community and after all visitations.
  • Avoid physical contact.

Those who have any active illness or symptoms of COVID-19 are urged to
refrain from visitation. Additionally, the leadership team requests that
visitors notify Lakewood immediately if they become suspicious of having
COVID-19 and have visited the community in the 14 days prior to coming
into contact or suspected contact with COVID-19.

Please review guidelines carefully to prepare for upcoming visits and to ensure all infection control protocol is followed while enjoying the company of loved ones in the community.

It is very important that infection control precautions continue to be
followed even if the visitor and/or the resident have received the vaccine. It
is still unclear if a vaccinated individual can transmit COVID-19 or if the
vaccine covers the different variants of the virus. As such, residents and
team members are urged to remain vigilant. The Lakewood team is very
excited about the in-person reconnection between residents and their loved
ones. Preventing virus transmission through these precautions will allow
visitation to continue.
