Residents to Compete in Inaugural Lakewood Summer Games
Lakewood’s entire resident population has been divided into countries and is competing in various events this week, July 12–16. The fun began this morning with putt-putt, cornhole, table ball, horseshoes and bean bag toss. The competition will continue this after with residents going head to head in ping pong and darts.
As part of the games, each team is accepting donations. Proceeds from the event will be given to the Special Olympics.
Opening ceremonies will be held this afternoon as well. Each team is represented by a color and a country to include:
Australia – team color yellow
Brazil – team color black
Canada – team color red
Dominican Republic – team color green
England – team color blue
The Summer Games will continue throughout the week with competitions in croquet and lawn darts, swimming, trivia, javelin, discus, shot put, dancing, obstacle courses, water polo, volleyball, shuffleboard, bowling, wiffleball, basketball, cycling, marksmanship, running, minute-to-win-it games. The weeklong event will conclude Friday with closing ceremonies.
