Lakewood Raises Nearly $31,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association

On June 21, hundreds of luminaries lined the streets at Lakewood in an effort to shine a light on the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. It was all part of the community’s Lights of Hope luminary walk for the Alzheimer’s Association Longest Day, a fundraising event worldwide held each year on the summer solstice.

Lakewood residents and team members honored friends and family who lived, are living with or are caring for those with Alzheimer’s with a memorial walk. The walk began on the terrace patio with a short celebration leading into the walk around Loop Road, which will was lined with luminaries. The sale of luminaries raised more than $2,100 and all proceeds were donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Lakewood’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team has raised nearly $31,000 towards its annual goal of $50,000. The team is ranked 15th nationally and is the only team from Virginia in the top 50. To make a donation to Lakewood Walk to End Alzheimer’s team, visit https://tinyurl.com/7kc6c53j.
