Lakewood Hosts Main Street Grand Opening
The Lakewood team is pleased to announce the grand opening of Main Street—the newly renovated common area. Construction on the building began in late 2019.
The space houses Cafe 1900—a dining venue for quick bites. The cafe also boasts three grab-and-go locations—one with staple items, ready to go meals to eat at home and another with ice cream for late-night cravings. The renovations included expanded cafe seating.
Main Street also includes the Simms Center auditorium, a game room, creative arts space, activity space, the Chesapeake Bank, the Shear Style Salon, mailroom and laundry room. The community’s thrift store, Briar Patch, can also be found in Main Street.
Another exciting part of this renovation project is that Main Street connects the connects Amelia, Brook, Rose and the health services buildings to the Clubhouse. This feature will allow residents to access the Clubhouse and its many amenities without walking in excessive heat, rain or snow.
“I am excited about the growing number of services and amenities that we are able to offer here at Lakewood,” said Executive Director Barrett Way. “I expect the Main Street area to be a primary hub of our campus as it connects so many resident buildings.”
