Lakewood Honors Fallen Heroes
Dozens of Lakewood residents and team members gathered on the Clubhouse lawn on May 31st for a Memorial Day service of remembrance. Members of American Legion Post 84 presented the nation’s colors. Poppies were distributed to those in attendance in remembrance of military people, deceased and living, active duty and veterans.
As part of the service, the flag pole was dedicated to Lakewood’s servicemen and women so that all who may see it remember their sacrifices. The flag flown was obtained by American Legion Post 84 members and flew above the U.S. Capitol on February 15, 2021, President’s Day.
Following the flag-raising, Jim Barrett played Taps in memory of all military members who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
