Lakewood Residents Celebrate Earth Day

On Monday, April 19, Lakewood Senior Living residents kicked off a week-long celebration of Earth Day. Lakewood’s dietician presented tips and tricks on how to eat more sustainably. On Tuesday, representatives from TSC Recycling visited the community to teach residents about recycling.

Then, on Wednesday, residents ramped up the excitement and took to the streets for free segway rides courtesy of RVA on Wheels. Participants toured the community, took in the spring flowers and, best of all, no one took a tumble.

On the holiday itself, nearly 20 residents participated in the Earth Day 3K run or walk. Participants were invited to join their friends to walk the community. Each resident who completed the 3K will have a tree planted in their honor on  April 30 to commemorate Arbor Day.

Upon completion of the race, residents were invited to the refuel with lunch from the Goatacado Food Truck and hear live music from the Slack Family Band. The day’s events concluded with the Spring Farmer’s Market.
