September 9: COVID-19 Update

Dear Lakewood Family,

The Lakewood leadership team learned on September 9 that an independent living resident in Brook has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is self-quarantining at home per the guidance from Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and CDC.

Contact tracing is currently underway. Anyone who is identified as having close contact with the positive resident will be contacted directly. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has been notified of the positive cases. The Lakewood team continues to follow all VDH recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus.

Our community’s priority continues to be the safety and well-being of residents and team members. Please remember that being fully vaccinated does not 100% protect an individual from contracting COVID or one of the variants. Both CDC and VDH have noted, “No vaccine works 100% of the time. Some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will get infected. Infections in fully vaccinated people are sometimes called vaccine breakthrough cases. In most cases, these people do not have any symptoms or have only mild symptoms. Their infections might also be shorter in duration.” https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-faq/vaccination/ & https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness.html

Please stay tuned to the Lakewood blog at https://lmanorprd.wpengine.com/blog/ for up-to-date communication.

Best regards,
Heather Crumbaugh
