Like everything else in 2020, Thanksgiving will be unlike any other the world has experienced. As the extended Lakewood community rolls into this exciting time of year, the leadership team is planning ahead to make Thanksgiving as fun and memorable as possible. A variety of events, outlined below, are designed with the safety of Lakewood residents, loved ones and team members at the forefront.

Independent Living

• The culinary team will be serving a holiday dinner on Thanksgiving Day for independent living residents. Service times in the Cascades dining room will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., with reservations required. To accommodate as many requests as possible, each resident will be limited to two guests.
• Delivery service will be available to those residents who choose to dine at home during this time. The same holiday meal will be served. The current delivery schedule will be followed for these deliveries.
• Another option will be the family meals-to-go program. Order forms are available at the host stand. The culinary team will prepare a full meal, including an appetizer, main course and dessert, for pick up the day before Thanksgiving.

Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Support

• The culinary team will prepare and serve a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving for residents in assisted living, memory support and healthcare. 
• Continuing with the current infection control practice in the assisted living and healthcare areas, guests will not be allowed in the dining room during mealtimes.
• Special accommodations will be available for spouses of residents who reside in assisted living or healthcare. A team member will contact those couples individually to coordinate.
• Beginning on Monday of Thanksgiving week and going through Friday, the Taste of the Holidays event will be offered. The culinary team will be going from room to room, outside of regular mealtimes, to serve a variety of pies and beverages to residents and guests.
  • Taste of the Holidays times:
    • Monday, November 23, from 10 – 11:30 a.m., 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 7 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, November 24, 25 and 27, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and 2 – 4 p.m.
