Lakewood Begins Re-Opening Healthcare Area

The Lakewood management team is pleased to announce the re-introduction of some healthcare services as regulations permit.

Key dates and services include:

  • Activities will resume on September 14 following all guidelines for safety and health. Only 10 residents will be permitted per group program.
  • Communal dining will resume on September 21. Due to social distancing and other guidelines, meals will now take place in various venues in the healthcare area to include the dining rooms, the third-floor living room and second-floor multi-purpose room.
  • Dr. Leah Ball, audiologist, is seeing residents in the clinic for medically necessary appointments only.
  • Dr. Beatrice Muncy, the dentist, is seeing residents in the clinic for medically necessary appointments only.
  • Achilles Foot and Ankle resumed podiatry services for medically necessary appointments. These appointments will be held in resident rooms.

At this time, healthcare residents are unable to visit or socialize in the independent living areas of the campus. Family and friend visitation will continue in the visitation pods through September 11.

Starting September 16, indoor visits will be held in the former conference room near the clinic. This indoor visitation area will be transformed to meet all guidelines for visits. At that time, visitation hours will change to Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please continue to utilize the Calendly application to schedule visits. One visit per resident per week will be permitted.

Healthcare residents may leave the campus for essential medical appointments. The new double doors installed near the therapy gym have allowed for a definitive separation between common spaces and residences. These doors, as well as the fire doors by the former bank area, will have an automatic door opener installed that can be opened with a fob.
