January 6: COVID-19 Update

The Lakewood leadership team learned today, Thursday, January 6, that two assisted living team members tested positive for COVID-19. These team members are quarantined at home pending completion of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return-to-work criteria.

Additionally, a healthcare resident tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is quarantined per guidance from VDH.

The VDH is aware of these cases, and the Lakewood team is following all guidelines and recommendations for the health and well-being of residents and team members. Contact tracing is underway. Anyone identified will be contacted directly, and appropriate steps will be taken.

These team members, who last worked on January 4, works in the Rose Building. There will be no changes to visitation for assisted living residents.

As of 9 p.m. Thursday, January 6, the Lakewood community will be implementing the following:
• No communal dining on the third floor of the Health Services Building for the next seven days to monitor and slow down the spread of the virus.
• Every seven days, the Lakewood team will re-assess cases on each floor and will determine the ongoing need for suspended dining.
• Activities will now be in small groups, where the number of residents participating will be limited. The current program calendar will be reviewed by the Infection Preventionist.
• All team members on the third floor of the Health Services Building will wear KN95. Team members caring for positive residents will wear N95 masks.

As a reminder, those who are not feeling well should postpone visits with family members at this time. Please stay tuned to the Lakewood blog at https://lmanorprd.wpengine.com/blog/ for up-to-date communications.
