January 29: COVID-19 Update

The Lakewood leadership team learned on January 28 that a healthcare resident tested positive for COVID-19. The positive case was identified during state-mandated twice-weekly baseline testing. The resident has been in isolation since a recent hospital stay.

Contact tracing identified that the resident likely contracted the virus while in the hospital. Though isolated since returning, contact tracing is still being conducted in the community. Any residents or team members identified as having close contact with the positive resident will be contacted directly. The Virginia Department of Health has been notified of this positive case.

Team members were tested on January 28 as part of state-mandated twice-weekly baseline testing. Residents will be tested again on February 1. The leadership team will report any positive tests as results are returned. The ongoing testing is due to the positivity rate in Henrico County which is currently 12.6%. While this rate is still in the red zone, it’s down nearly 5% from last week, signaling things are heading in a positive direction.

Lakewood’s second vaccination clinic will be held on February 4. Please continue to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene.
