January 12: COVID-19 Update

On January 11, Lakewood’s management team learned that an additional healthcare team member tested positive for COVID-19. The team member developed symptoms and was tested at an offsite location over the weekend. The team member has been removed from the schedule and is quarantining at home until the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return-to-work criteria are met.

Contact tracing is underway in partnership with VDH. Anyone who may have been in close contact with this team member will be contacted directly. All team members continue to follow all recommendations from VDH to prevent the spread of the virus.

The positivity rate in Henrico County is now in the red zone at 17.4%. As such, Lakewood’s clinical team will continue twice-weekly testing of all team members. All healthcare residents continue to be tested once a week. Visitation to the healthcare center, assisted living and memory support neighborhoods remain suspended at this time. Hospice team members or other private duty providers are also unable to visit the healthcare center.

Residents are urged to continue following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended infection control guidance: properly wear a mask covering mouth and nose, keep a social distance of at least six feet both indoors and outdoors and practicing effective hand hygiene.
