December 2: COVID-19 Update

On December 2, Lakewood’s leadership team learned that a certified nursing assistant in the healthcare center tested positive for COVID-19. This team member has been removed from the schedule and is self-quarantining at home.

Contact tracing is underway. All healthcare team members continue to be tested in accordance with the area’s positivity rate, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This week and next week, all residents in healthcare will also be tested in accordance with the Virginia Department of Health guidance. The management team will report results if any additional positive cases are identified. No other team members or residents are showing any signs or symptoms of the virus.

Out of an abundance of caution, healthcare residents who may have been taken care of by this staff member are quarantining for the time being. Visitation, communal dining and activities in the healthcare area are also suspended at this time. The Lakewood team has reported the positive case to the Virginia Department of Health and continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread.

On a separate note, a member of Lakewood’s leadership tested positive for COVID-19 on December 1. This team member is self-quarantining at home for 14 days. Contact tracing is complete and any residents or team members who were in close contact with this positive team member have been notified directly.

Lakewood’s leadership team urges residents to continue wearing masks, keeping a social distance of at least six feet and practicing hand hygiene.
